Poland's shadow economy may continue to decline in the coming years, to even 14.1-15.2% of GDP in 2021, after it was brought down to 17.4% of GDP in 2016, the daily Rzeczpospolita wrote citing data from consultancy A.T. Kearney.
Poland secured a high 5th position in the ranking of 60 countries that have successfully reduced their undeclared economic activity, head of A.T. Kearney's Warsaw office Krystian Kamyk says of the latest edition of report "Digital Payments and the Informal Economy."
That good result comes on the back of the growing popularity of non-cash payments, Kamyk remarked. Government efforts to tighten the tax collection system and introduction of the standard audit file have also played an important role, the daily observed.
