Poland's investment vehicle for the government's flagship housing support program Mieszkanie plus, BGK Nieruchomosci, will soon be taken over by Polish Development Fund PFR and change its name to PFR Nieruchomosci, as the cabinet is expected to OK the transaction within a fortnight, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna wrote citing a government insider.
The move is seen as an attempt to speed up the lagging construction of the affordable flats for rent; however, the goal of 100,000 flats under construction in 2019 will not be achieved, the source added.
The transaction will also solve personal problems within the organization, as CEO of the parent state development bank Beata Daszynska-Muzyczka and the BGK Nieruchomosci head Miroslaw Barszcz never got along with each other, a BGK source said.
