Poland's major courier services provider InPost secured EUR 125 million in financing from American investment company KKR thanks to the involvement of InPost's owner, US private equity fund Advent, the daily Rzeczpospolita found out.
InPost is expected to obtain the money within 5.5 years and will use it to further grow its business, CEO Rafal Brzoska said.
At the same time, Poland's state postal operator Poczta Polska will try to challenge InPost by launching 1,000 own parcel machines across the country to end-2019, with the majority of them to be installed in stores of discount grocery chain Biedronka, and some part possibly at Lotos gas stations if negotiations prove successful, Rzeczpospolita revealed.
