Chinese expansion on building market

Chinese construction firms are approaching Polish cash-stripped builders, offering liquidity in return for joint participation in tenders, a manager at one listed construction firm told Puls Biznesu.
The proposals are usually made to Polish smaller and mid-sized firms with no backing from a foreign parent company. While some firms decline the offer, the Chinese wait patiently until banks refuse to finance the targeted firm, builder lobby PZPB head Jan Stylinski noted.
Poland's cash-stripped smaller builders will have no choice but to either sell themselves to Chinese partners or conduct contracts in tandem with them, Stylinski predicted.
Public investors, particularly railways, prefer not to see surging prices of building materials and refuse to renegotiate contracts, forcing Polish firms to use Chinese capital, the official said.
