Italian firm causes railway project delay

Polish state rail infrastructure operator PKP PLK has a back up plan ready in the event that Italian construction firm Astaldi does not return to work on its segment of the Warsaw-Lublin line, PKP PLK board member Arnold Bresch said October 5.
A delay of up to half a year on the project is possible, but means exist to pay Astaldi's subcontractors shortly, he assured.
PKP PLK already paid PLN 14 million to subcontractors carrying out works on two railway lines after the Italian company stopped paying.
