The Polish government will add a number of tools to its tax collection kit, raising concerns among a local business lobby about new barriers to business which may do little to reduce the shadow economy, the daily Puls Biznesu reported following a cabinet approval of a tax bill.
The bill will allow tax authorities greater powers for unsupervised inspections, accelerate audits in fuels, alcohol and tobacco, create constant oversight in gambling, increase tax authority access to key information and more.
The government is crafting new legislation to toughen up on taxpayers avoiding excise. Non-registered sales of alcohol could lead to automatic loss of license under the new rules.
