Poland decreased its total renewables capacity to 8.54000 MW at end-June from over 8.7000 at end-March, the daily Parkiet wrote of a report by energy market regulator URE that it accessed.
Stagnation in the renewables sector is a fact, experts say, pointing to unfavorable regulatory environment. The capacity of hydroelectric power plants declined by 157.7MW quarter on quarter, to 979.13 MW, a decline that experts alternatively put to decommissionings of the oldest plants or a classification mistake in Q1 which put pumped-storage hydroelectric plants among renewables.
That mistake was corrected in Q2, hence the decline, URE's spokesperson Agnieszka Glosniewska admittted.
