• Danuta Hübner, who will be Poland's first European Commissioner, was a straight-A student, even in physical education, where she excelled in the high jump. Only once was her grade lowered-when she was in elementary school: on the day of the principal's birthday, the whole class played hooky. She did not want to break ranks and so she joined them.


• Jarosław Wałęsa, the youngest son of the famous Solidarity leader, wants to follow in his father's footsteps. So far he has worked for Lech Wałęsa's foundation. At work he refers to his father as "Mr. President." He says the Wałęsa name is more of a blessing than a curse.


• Soccer player Kamil Kosowski has played with the German team FC Kaiserslautern since the fall and he has scored successes in the Polish national team. He lives in Germany but misses his former life in Cracow. He misses conversations over a glass of beer with his friends after matches and claims there is no real friendship outside the stadium, unlike in Poland.


• Actress Edyta Jungowska revealed that she only listens to fortunetellers who are her friends. Sometimes she asks an astrologer for advice and a star chart. She admits believing in all sorts of hoodoo. She used to attend courses at the Psychotronic Society, where she was taught various relaxation techniques.
