• In a recent interview, Adam Michnik (pictured) expressed his apprehension regarding the presidential elections. He fears that in the last round, the president's wife Jolanta Kwa¶niewska will be pitted against Andrzej Lepper. If this happens, Michnik will drink a large glass of vodka and then cast his vote for Mrs. Kwa¶niewska.
• Budka Suflera, a pop group with a cult following, will soon celebrate their 30th anniversary. Frontman Krzysztof Cugowski believes this may be a good moment to end his musical career and release his last album. "You should know when to leave the stage," Grzegorz Markowski from the group Perfect, another legend of Polish pop music, sings. Cugowski does not want to repeat the mistake of some Polish stars who try to stay in the spotlight at all costs.
• Agnieszka Bibrzycka, age 22, was named the best basketball player of Europe in a prestigious poll conducted by the Italian daily La Gazetta dello Sporto. She earned this distinction by her contribution to the Polish team at the European championships in Greece and the Euro-League; she placed second among the most efficient players. Agnieszka plays for Lotos Gdynia and the Polish national team. It is unknown whether her beauty and blond hair helped her win the Italian poll.
• Robert Leszczyński, member of the Idol jury and musical critic, can talk for hours about his daughter, born only a few months ago. She has a Balkan name meaning spring. Robert takes hundreds of photographs of her and especially likes those in which she holds his hand.
