A Laugh of History

In reference to Stan.

It is very nice to hear such words as yours from a foreigner and especially from the American. As a Pole, I can only say that here between rivers Odra and Bug we just get used to opinion of Brits who think that the whole world is whirling around the Crown. But just as you write, the only thing we demand is just a little of reasonable thinking. Brits would fall faster then they think. I mean that without the USA as an ally it would had been only a matter of time before German Navy would cut GB off from their supplies and made them starve. The whole world had helped to defeat Hitler and his armies, but only GB, France, USA, USRR took pieces of a cake. In my opinion, especially absurd is the previous and present status of France, which had fallen faster than any other nation during the Second World War, and yet became a super power!

That's what we call a laugh of history.

In my opinion there is no one in Poland who would like to "die for Gdansk" now. But - I don't know why - we are always ready to die for London or New York or any other "western friend" even if afterwards we would be kicked in our asses by these "friends" - which is happening almost every time. No one remembers now - at "the time of peace" - that "Call for Help" brings sole sound of Poles coming with aid. We used to live like this, we live it now, and we will be in future.
