"Wrocław municipality is our biggest client," says Paweł Zawadzki, president of road-safety company Zakład Bezpieczeństwa Ruchu Drogowego ZABERD SA.

"Since this investor has been very demanding from the very beginning, our company has managed to develop greatly. We have focused primarily on the quality of service, a fact well appreciated by clients from other parts of the country.

Today, we are Poland's biggest traffic engineering company, particularly in terms of pavement markings. We carry out contracts all over Poland, from the sea to the mountains."

The company was established in March 1992 as a result of the privatization of a state-owned company. From the very beginning, they have handled comprehensive traffic engineering and road safety, constantly increasing the range of offered services. The firm owes its market success to modernity, solid work and consistent adherence to its mission statement: "The maintenance of safe road traffic is guaranteed by qualified and experienced personnel, first-rate specialist equipment and high-quality materials."

"We haven't forgotten where we came from and the point we're at right now," say Danuta Sałek, the company's vice-president. "Our roots are in this city. This is why we actively cooperate with Wrocław's local government. We do a lot of work for the city.
Sometimes these are small projects, but we primarily carry out large city investment projects in traffic engineering. We're ready at any moment to help the city that we call home."

ZABERD SA recently received the European Medal for services. The company president was handed the medal by Józef Oleksy, chairman of the Sejm European Committee. "Such appreciation sets the direction in which we should be going," says Zawadzki. "We offer a European-level product and this is why we're able to win customers not only in the Polish market, but also foreign markets. The company is ready to face foreign competition, both in Poland and abroad. We're not afraid of it; on the contrary-we relish such challenges. For some time we have received many proposals to carry out joint projects from partners from Western Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Poland's accession to the European Union will certainly facilitate such undertakings."
