Casino Group has started construction of the Karolinka Center in Opole, in conjunction with its Mayland Real Estate development company. The estimated value of the investment is 52 million euros. According to the planned schedule, Karolinka will open at the end of 2007.

The 65,000-sq-m shopping and entertainment gallery and pavilion complex will include 150 stores and boutiques, a hypermarket, food outlets and restaurants, and a parking lot for 1,500 cars. Karolinka will create 1,500 jobs and a further 300 during construction. The facility will be important for the region, expanding and modernizing shopping opportunities for Opole residents, and attracting customers from the entire province. This large investment is expected to attract other investors to Opole. Casino Group, which has been in Poland for 15 years, has opened 13 shopping centers in the country. Its subsidiary Mayland Real Estate will build shopping centers in Poland based on the group's experience. Investment projects are already being implemented in Słupsk, Dąbrowa Górnicza and Wrocław. Casino Group plans to open six more shopping centers in Poland between 2007 and 2009.
