Polish cities see protests against wasting food
   
To mark World Food Day, the Federation of Polish Food Banks organized "food strikes" in 16 Polish cities on Monday in which voluntaries dressed up as fruit and vegetables to protest against wasting food.

Twenty-four percent of Poles in a Federation of Polish Food Banks (PFBZ) survey admitted to throwing away surplus food giving as main reasons: overbuying, expiry and bad storage.

Fifty-eight percent of this group said they threw away bread, 37 percent potatoes and meat products, 19 percent vegetables and 18 percent fruit.
