Polish CPI likely to stay below 1.6% in December - minister
Poland's December CPI may fall below the Finance Ministry's forecast for 1.6%, deputy Finance Minister Janusz Cichon said on Wednesday.

"As far as our forecasts are concerned, nothing is changing - we expect a small increase already this year, but [CPI] will definitely stay below the lower band of [central bank NBP's] target," Cichon told PAP Polish news agency. "Our forecast is at 1.6%, but one should assume that it may not be met fully and [CPI] will be lower."

Poland's August consumer prices were up 1.1% year on year and down by 0.3% m/m versus consensus expectations for 1.1% y/y decline, Central Statistical Office (GUS) said in the latest release.
