Queen’s Birthday Party
A party to mark the birthday of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II is the highlight of the events calendar for British embassies all over the world. This year’s Queen’s Birthday Party, held June 19 in the British embassy gardens in Warsaw, celebrated British-Polish collaboration on a range of issues in the European Union as well as the two countries’ close cooperation in NATO, and a recent increase in both British exports to Poland and two-way investment.

A crowd of business leaders, politicians and media professionals gathered at the event to network and foster bilateral ties. In his welcoming speech, the British ambassador to Poland, Robin Barnett, underscored various aspects of the successful British-Polish partnership and also referred to the GREAT Campaign—the British government’s biggest ever marketing and communications campaign, of which Poland is part.

Barnett also saluted Polish World War II veterans who were the event’s special guests. The speech was traditionally concluded with a toast to Queen Elizabeth.
