Seeing the Beauty in the Beast
Beauty and the Beast, a new play based on the classic fairy tale, will open Dec. 5 at the Jewish Theater in Warsaw.

Writer and director Lena Szurmiej has based the new production on the best-known version of Beauty and the Beast, written by Jean-Marie Leprince de Beaumont in the 18th century. Like most other classic fairy tales, it explores both the good and the bad in people. It also makes young viewers aware of the problems caused by intolerance for people who are different. Watching the play, children can learn that love and acceptance can overcome fear and turn a beast into a human being.

Upcoming performances: Dec. 5, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
