New Plays at Nowy Theater
While checking out what’s on in Warsaw theaters, make sure not to miss two new plays at the Nowy Theater.

The Nowy Theater, under the artistic direction of internationally renowned director Krzysztof Warlikowski, recently premiered Uwodziciel (The Seducer), a play directed by Katarzyna Warnke. Uwodziciel focuses on language seen as a source of identity, a tool to build reality, and a space where freedom battles oppression. Words spoken on the stage build up the characters, and everything that happens in the play is related to speaking, watching other people’s response to words, and discovering the intimate and social meanings of words uttered.

The other new play is entitled Katastronauci (Disastronautics) and is a science-fiction piece inspired by the book Perform or Else by Jon McKenzie. The story revolves around the mysterious tribe of the Challengers, who like to challenge the world and one another. They are all infected with disaster and seem doomed, which is why they never cease to test the limits of disaster and toy with all manner of calamities. They even invent a new science called accidentology to fathom out the rules that govern various kinds of accidents related to new inventions. Hailing from different places and eras, they are all on board a space shuttle.

The play is directed by Iga Gańczarczyk and the cast includes young Polish actors Lena Frankiewicz, Bartosz Gelner and Anna Zaradny.
