Russian Ballet Stars on Tour
The legendary Igor Moiseyev Ballet from Moscow is coming to Poland in October for its first tour of this country in almost 20 years.

With 80 professional, classically trained dancers, the company will perform its own, distinctive interpretations of national and folk dances from different corners of the world.

The famous ballet group was founded in 1937 by Russian dancer and choreographer Igor Moiseyev, who died in 2007 at the age of 101. The group was one of the world’s first dance ensembles to perform dances from different cultures and introduce them to wider audiences. Moiseyev choreographed around 200 ballet productions in which he combined the folk dances of Soviet republics with modern and classical ballet, producing innovative forms of dance. He also came up with choreography for several musical masterpieces, especially those by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Professional, classy and respectful of tradition, the Igor Moiseyev Ballet has through the years become sort of a living museum of world dance.

While in Poland the Igor Moiseyev Ballet will also stage one-act performances dealing with the everyday lives of so-called ordinary people from around the world. This will be the first time the group will be performing in Poland with a full lineup since a show it gave at the Wielki Theater in Warsaw in 1996.
