Poland's unemployment seen at 12.5pct in May

Poland's unemployment in May likely declined to 12.5% from 13.0% in April, Labor Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said of his ministry's estimates.

The number of registered jobless declined to 1.993 million, the minister added.

The unemployment may decline to below 12% in summertime if the current positive tendencies on the job market hold, Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

Recent declines in the jobless rate are not only an effect of seasonality, but also of a reversal of trends on the job market, the minister said.

"The main factor is economic growth which guarantees an increase in job numbers," he said, adding that investments in special economic zones also played its role.
