Vanessa Mae in Town
Violin virtuoso and pop star Vanessa Mae is coming to Warsaw to give a one-night-only concert May 30 at the Torwar Arena.

Britain’s wealthiest female entertainer under 30 in 2006, Mae is hailed as one of the 50 most beautiful women in the world. She became a household name in the mid-1990s with The Violin Player, an album that spawned several classical-inspired, violin-driven pop hits. In Warsaw, Mae will perform with a drummer, two guitarists and a 40-piece string orchestra, playing tracks from her new album Choreography along with some of her greatest hits featured on a recent compilation entitled Platinum Collection.

Along with music, the Warsaw show will come with spectacular visual effects featuring Mae herself. The violinist says that each time she plays a concert, she wants to demonstrate the full potential of the violin.

“I look forward to working with the great Polish audience,” says Mae, who is well known for stepping off the stage to play solo parts amidst the cheering crowd. “I am bringing my favorite tracks to Warsaw, but there will also be a few songs that I rarely perform.”

A child prodigy, Mae started performing with the London Philharmonic when she was only 10 years old. To date, she has sold over 10 million records in more than 100 countries. Her mix of styles, classical music and pop has been wowing international audiences for years and Mae can be credited for introducing a generation of MTV viewers to fugues by J.S. Bach.
