This year’s 72nd International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój gathered many outstanding pianists, as it always does. They have come to this adorable spa town located in the Klodzko Valley from around the world. The first performer was Nelson Freire who was playing not only Chopin but also Bach and Bethoven. Later, throughout the week music lovers were up to magnificent music feast in which starred i.a.: Szymon Nehring, George Li, Kate Liu, Ingrid Fliter, Federico Colli, Alexander Gavrylyuk, Hyuk Lee, Nikita Mndoyants, Vadym Kholodenko.

During the festival, its art director Piotr Paleczny celebrated his 25th anniversary of directing this wonderful music holiday. Throughout all this years he never stopped satisfying what is a challenging audience of Duszniki-Zdrój. They are always expecting novelties and stars from the top. He often travels around the world to perform and to judge as a jury member. That is how he meets and then invites a lot of talented youth and virtuosos. In Duszniki there are some performers who have never parted in any music competition only to start after the festival. And so sometimes happends that festival in Duszniki is a beginning of their music career. Sometimes the festival’s theme are performers from pianist institutes and other times major music competitions laureates. Director Piotr Paleczny always puts his own experience and artistic intuition first, that’s why in Duszniki-Zdrój you only hear the most interesting and talented pianists.
