Poland may tax e-cigarettes

Poland mulls taxing e-cigarettes as part of a broader set of regulations for the tobacco industry, deputy Finance Minister Wieslaw Jasinski told the daily Rzeczpospolita.

The Polish market of e-cigarettes is estimated at around PLN 450 million, while that of traditional cigarettes - some PLN 28 billion.

The Finance Ministry has set up a team for preparing detailed solutions to limit shadow economy in tobacco, much like in the case of fuels trade.

The Ministry has more teams for combating shadow economy in various sectors including construction, alcohol, electronics or rapeseed oil trade.
