Finance Minister Pawel Szalamacha, PM Beata Szydlo, Labor Minister Elzbieta Rafalska
The Polish government expects its 'PLN 500+' child allowance program to generate "a demand impulse" of 0.5 ppt of GDP in 2016, Finance Minister Pawel Szalamacha said during a news briefing.

"We have estimated that this demand impulse will bring 0.5 ppt of GDP this year," Szalamacha said of the government's child subsidy program 500+ at a press conference held to summarize the first three months of its functioning. "Final data will be known at the beginning of next year."

The government has paid out nearly PLN 5 billion in child benefits to Polish families since the launch of the program in April, having issued 2.23 million positive decisions as of July 1, Labor Ministrer Elzbieta Rafalska said.

The first effects of the program are already visible, for example in increased turnover at shops, for example with household appliances, PM Beata Szydlo said.
