Central airport location selected
The Polish government has selected Stanislawow in the municipality of Baranow as the location of its central airport and communication hub it plans to build for up to PLN 30 billion, the daily Rzeczpospolita reports citing government officials.
Details of the project including its financing are to be presented next week. Stanislawow is located ca. 30 km west of Warsaw, near the A2 highway and the Warsaw-Poznan railway line. The journey to Warsaw should take ca. 15 minutes on a fast train, 20-40 minutes by car or bus.
The airport, which could become the biggest in Central and Eastern Europe, is supposed to handle at least 50 million passengers a year.
