Labor costs hit economy
Carlos Pinerua
The Polish economy is facing a threat from the accelerating increase of unit labor costs resulting from labor shortages, a factor that will restrain the country's GDP growth in the near future, the dailies Parkiet and Puls Biznesu write of the conclusions included in the World Bank's recent outlook on Poland.
The threat is described in the report as the biggest internal risk for the Polish economic outlook. The policymakers should try to prevent it by supporting productivity growth, investing in human resources and looking for opportunities in labor migration, the dailies note, citing World Bank's representative for Poland and Baltic States Carlos Pinerua.
