New challenge for fiscal authorities

Polish firms are facing paralysis of their bank transaction settlement system due to the finance ministry's plan to publish lists of active VAT payers, daily Puls Biznesu claims.
The draft legislation obliges companies to make money transfers exceeding PLN 15,000 only to bank accounts of business partners present on the lists. Firms failing to comply will be unable to book such payment as a cost and bear joint responsibility for the business partner's tax liabilities.
Utility providers, mobile operators and leasing companies would be particularly exposed to those sanctions, which would also prove a challenge for fiscal authorities, according to the newspaper.
