Banks need billions

Polish banks require PLN 7.1 billion in fresh capital in a baseline scenario to meet capital requirements and combined capital buffer and as much as PLN 24.9 billion under a shock scenario, results of stress tests from the central bank NBP show.
Poland’s financial system continues to function in a stable manner, aided by the favorable domestic economic conditions, but some risks remain, the central bank said in its semi-annual review of financial sector stability.
Polish banks will likely face further decline of profitability as measured in ROA and RORC in the coming quarters, mainly on account of regulatory factors.
