Power groups to be consolidated
PM Mateusz Morawiecki wants to Poland to reduce the number of main power groups to two from four and in the first stage it wants to consolidate heat assets of power groups, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily writes citing insider information.
In the most likely scenario Poland will merge PGE with Energa and Enea with Tauron, several individuals from the sector confirmed. Poland could first set up the Polish heat group PGC combining heat assets of PGE, Tauron and possibly PGNiG Termika, unit of gas group PGNiG. In order to avoid reservations of anti-trust office UOKiK's as to power segment consolidation, PGC could be sold to PGNiG. PGNiG is reportedly reluctant to the consolidation of heat assets as PGNiG Termika positively contributes to PGNiG results.
