Polish-Israeli dialogue needed
Anna Azari
A decision by Polish president Andrzej Duda to direct the holocaust anti-defamation bill for constitutional review may be a sign allowing Poland and Israel to begin dialog on the issue, Israeli ambassador to Poland Anna Azari told the TVN24 news broadcaster.
The need for dialog with Israel was later stressed by government spokesperson Joanna Kopcinska in an interview for Radio Plus broadcaster.
The Polish government was not previously approached by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with any series concerns about the shape of the planned holocaust anti-defamation bill, former Prime Minister Beata Szydlo told the TVN24 news broadcaster.
Some remarks from the Israeli side did appear, and Poland took them into account while polishing the bill's text, Szydlo added.
