The Polish government may yet get a new argument in its dispute with the European Commission over judiciary reform if President Andrzej Duda agrees to allow chief justices not to retire, daily Rzeczpospolita writes in an opinion piece.
According to a recently passed law, chief justices are forced to retire at 65, but may apply to the president for a permission to stay. According to Rzeczpospolita findings, 14 out of 27 judges that reached retirement age asked the president to allow them to keep their posts.
