Budget for 2019

Stanislaw Gomulka
Poland's 2019 budget will be forced to handle another hefty rise in social spending, making the budget sensitive to any economic slowdown depleting revenue growth, the daily Rzeczpospolita says in an analysis. Poland will pay above PLN 25 billion for its 500+ child subsidy program, PLN 11.8 billion for retirement age reduction, PLN 6.8 billion for pension indexation, PLN 1.5 billion on a new program for school supplies, and PLN 4 billion in rising health care spending targets.
Every percentage point of growth below target could cost Poland PLN 9 to 12 billion in revenues, former Finance Ministry official and current business lobby economist Stanislaw Gomulka claims.
