Polish fuel giant goes abroad
Fuel group PKN Orlen's Czech unit Unipetrol is considering expansion to neighboring countries and could buy between 10 and 20 gas stations in one of them before year-end to start with, Unipetrol deputy CEO Tomasz Wiatrak told Puls Biznesu daily in an interview.
Unipetrol would buy stations from one of the existing players on the market and then gradually increase the count, developing the network either under the Czech brand Benzina or Orlen brand, the official said. Additionally, Unipetrol could enter the second of the analyzed countries next year, Wiatrak said.
Analysts believe that Unipetrol will start its expansion with Slovakia, where Benzina brand is well recognized.
