Duda on Supreme Court
Poland's new Supreme Court law is still in force as the country's legal system has no institution that could suspend provisions of a binding statute, President Andrzej Duda told the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna. Only the Constitutional Tribunal is allowed to say whether the law complies with the constitution, Duda added, dismissing the Supreme Court's recent appeal to EU's Court of Justice, aimed at questioning the statute's compatibility with EU legislation.
