Job cuts in coal sector ahead

Poland's Upper Silesian Coal Basin may lose up to 41,000 jobs to 2030 following the ongoing transformation of the European Union's energy profile that will gradually marginalize the production and consumption of coal, the daily Rzeczpospolita wrote of the data collected by Joint Research Centre, a science arm of the European Commission.
The Polish government is aware of the scenario and will seek to revive its post-mining areas under a PLN 8-9 billion program, with half of the sum to be secured due to EU financing, the daily found out.
