Demographic crisis
Poland's population is expected to shrink by 2.8 million in the next 25 years, stats office GUS said in the latest report on demographic trends.
"The results of the forecast show that during the next 25 years Poland's population will decline by 2.8 million persons," GUS said.
Poland has entered a demographic crisis, which may transform into a long-term tendency, according to GUS.
The median age in 25 years will increase by 10 years to 50.
The forecast assumes higher fertility rates, but that will be offset by declining number of mothers, leading to flat number of births.
