New regulations fro retailers
The Polish government will seek to tighten up its plastic bag regulations to force retailers pay recycling fees for each plastic bag sold to clients, daily Gazeta Wyborcza said, citing a draft bill on the issue.
The current law assumes that the PLN 0.25 fee per bag is paid only for bags with 15-50 micrometer thickness and many retailers sell thicker bags at lower price than the taxed bags, leaving the budget without revenues from the fee.
The new fee for thicker bags will amount to PLN 0.15 per bag.
