Sierra Gorda mine with new permit
Sierra Gorda mine
Copper giant KGHM secured an environmental permit for a higher limit of daily ore throughput to 230,000 tons from 190,000 at its Sierra Gorda mine but for the time being no major changes in throughput should be expected, the head of communications department at KGHM Jaroslaw Twardowski told the daily Parkiet.
KGHM currently focuses on eliminating bottlenecks to reach daily throughput of 140,000 tons. Increasing throughput to the allowed maximum would require USD 2 billion in investments, Puls Biznesu daily notes.
