Cable network operators buying and selling

M&A appears heavy among top cable network operators.
The market's #2 Vectra announced its plans to buy #3 player Multimedia and the nation's #1 player UPC, which failed an anti-monopoly bid for its own purchase of Multimedia, is now believed on the auction block.
Vectra will likely receive a close anti-monopoly review as well, the daily Puls Biznesu wrote. Vectra believes it can increase its capacity for network investments, generate synergies and increase its scale for growth in the deal, Vectra CEO Tomasz Zuranski said.
No price was named in the August 28 statement, but the prior failed attempt by UPC had been priced at PLN 3 billion.
UPC's owner has hired Credit Suisse to advise in a possible sale of UPC in a deal that services said could run to EUR 1.6 billion.
