Compensation for victims of bond frauds
The Polish government wants to set up a system of compensation for individuals who bought bonds issued or sold with a breach of law, a government legislative agenda showed.
Investors qualify if they were misled by the seller or offered a product that was not tailored to their needs or their awareness of risk connected with such an investment, among other things.
Upon launch of restructuring or bankruptcy, such individual investors will be entitled to 25% of their loss (ex premium/discount & interest) to a max of PLN 100,000.
The Fund will be financed from administrative fines by the financial market watchdog KNF, the consumer protection office UOKiK, or court fines, among others.
