Investments hit budget
Teresa Czerwinska
Poland's swing to a an almost PLN 860 million deficit at end-July from PLN 9.5 billion surplus after June was driven mostly by accelerated investment spending, Finance Minister Teresa Czerwinska told broadcaster Radio Zet.
"The swing to a deficit is tied to an acceleration in investment spending," Czerwinska said, mentioning defense and local government spending.
The 2019 budget is not written in stone, the minister suggested, with "certain movements" possible during consultations.
The Polish government sent its budget bill for social consultations in late August.
