The Stena Baltica ferry which sails between Gdynia, Poland, and Karlskrona, Sweden, opened its doors to tourists and residents of the Tricity area in mid-June. Swedish ferry operator Stena Line opened the ferry to visitors for the fourth time. The Open Ship event is always a success and last year, over 8,000 people came to see the Stena Baltica from the inside.

This year’s Open Ship event marked 15 years since Stena Line launched the Gdynia -Karlskrona ferry link. Stena Line Polska executives were celebrating the day in much higher spirits than last year. “Since the start of this year, the volume of freight and passenger traffic has increased and as a result, our financial results are 17 percent better than in the same period last year,” said Marek Kiersnowski, the managing director of Stena Line Polska.

Last year, Stena Line took 350,000 passengers from Gdynia to Karlskrona and back, along with 65,000 passenger cars and 66,000 cargo units. According to Kiersnowski, this summer season looks promising.
