Info

Orient Inspirations are the motto of the 8th Cross-Culture Warsaw Festival, a presentation of the most interesting phenomena in world culture and music, one of the biggest events of this kind in Central Europe to be held in Warsaw September 23-29 .
The festival will be opened by concerts by Alim Qasimov master of Azerbaijan classical music, also known as Mugham and Armenia's most famous folk musician Jivan Gasparyan, the foremost virtuoso of the duduk, an ancient oboe-like instrument.
The festival will also feature Ayarkhaan, a long-established female vocal group from Sakha, also known as Yakutia, Siberia, who revive various lost manners of singing – khabarha yryata, tanalai yryata.
Other highlights of the festival include a performance by Al-Kindî, currently rated among the best formations devoted to classical Arab music and Raza Khan from the famous holy town of Amritsar, India, one of the most talented living Sufi singers, who displays an extraordinary vocal range.
The final concert of the festival will be starred by Boubacar Traoré, a diamond among the jewels of Mandingo music, who carries within him all the beauty of African blues and a young singer, dancer and percussionist from the Ivory Coast - Dobet Gnahoré who sings in a range of African languages including Bété, Fon, Baoule, Lingala, Malinke, Mina or Bambara.
During seven days of the festival several dozen musicians from 11 countries will appear on the stage in front of the Palace of Culture.
For the last seven years the festival has permanently fitted into the multi-cultural landscape of Warsaw, building its prestige and winning its loyal audience. Over 150 individual artists and groups from over 50 countries have so far presented their art within the Festival so far.
