The Graduate on stage of Dramatyczny Theater
date:Thursday, 30 April 2015
Place:Teatr Dramatyczny Miasta Stołecznego Warszawy

A Polish-language stage adaptation of “The Graduate”, the 1963 book by American novelist Charles Webb that in 1967 was made into a well-known film with Dustin Hoffmann in the title role, is shown at the Dramatyczny Theater in Warsaw.

“The Graduate” tells the story of a fresh college graduate named Benjamin Braddock who has no well-defined aim in life and finds himself trapped in a morally dubious love with an older woman– before he falls in love with her daughter.

The story is set in the US in the first half of the 1960s and shows transformations taking place in American society, especially in the middle class, which is bored with prosperity and enmeshed in hypocrisy.

The novel was originally adapted for the stage in 2001in London by British dramatist and director Terry Johnson.

The Dramatyczny Theater production is directed by Poland’s Jakub Krofta and features a cast of Polish actors including Agnieszka Warchulska, Anna Szymańczyk, Krzysztof Dracz, Mariusz Drężek and Krzysztof Brzazgon as Benjamin.
