Prehistory of Polish Lands- exhibition in Archeological Museum
date:Wednesday, 28 December 2016
End date:Sunday, 31 December 2017
Place:State Archeological Museum

This largest permanent exhibition in the Archeological Museum presents the oldest history of mankind living on the Polish lands since the beginning of settlement to the early reign of Bolesław Krzywousty. Numerous monuments, reconstructions, models and illustrations show very clearly the process of change which occurred in many areas of human life in the successive Eras: Stone, Bronze and Iron. Thanks to this the exhibition is intended both for the small children, who for the first time walk into the Museum, pupils of primary and secondary schools, as well as adults.

The most popular among children is the reconstruction of the hut of the Ice Age man, built from the original mammoth bones, as well as dioramas showing, inter alia an encampment of the reindeer hunters, the life of Neolithic farmers or the residents of the Slavic fortified settlement.

The older and more demanding visitors will appreciate for example the unique grave artifacts of the hunter from Janisławice more than 6500 years old with a distinctive necklace made of the teeth of aurochs, treasures of bronze artifacts of Trzciniec culture with a spectacular tiara with Dratów or very finely crafted silver ornaments deriving from the period of Roman influences and from the early Middle Ages. In addition, one can see at the exhibition the oldest agricultural tools, the oldest pottery, the first artifacts of bronze and iron in the Polish territories.

The exhibition is located on the ground floor and is accessible to the physically disabled persons also on the wheelchairs.
