End date:Monday, 31 December 2018
Place:The Asia and Pacific Museum

An exhibition entitled „Sound Zone” („Strefa dĽwięków” in Polish)” is the first part of a permanent display put together at the new seat of the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw.

The exhibition showcases about 120 musical instruments from various countries and culture areas. Visitors can view simple instruments used by amateur musicians as well as true pieces of art played by professionals at royal courts.

Cultural context and functions of the displayed instruments are presented by various multimedia means. Viewers can learn about traditional role of an instrument as well as contemporary changes taking place in music under the influence of mutual permeation of various cultures.

Visitors can not only see beautiful objects from museum’s collection, but also listen to sounds of selected instruments, watch films presenting playing techniques and view contemporary and historical photography documentation of music traditions. There is also an opportunity to play on several traditional instruments for those who would like to check their own music skills,
