Cybis Space

An exhibition of works by Bolesław Cybis, one of the most respected Polish artists of the inter-war period, is on display at the National Museum through Nov. 3. The exhibition comprises sculptures, posters, drawings and works of graphic art from the collections of Polish museums—altogether 300 items completed before Cybis left for the United States in 1939.

Readers of The Warsaw Voice can obtain five pairs of tickets for the exhibition from the editorial office, tel. 335-97-00.

Flamenco
It will be possible to admire the original Andalusian flamenco dance at the Endless Heart concert at Polski Theater, Nov. 11. The quintet, consisting of Rafa de Ronda (vocal), Agustin de la Fuente (guitar), Ricardo Espinosa (cajon), La Marta (dance) and Eduardo Clavijo (dance), will play traditional Andalusian songs (flamenco puro) and present a lively flamenco dance. Clavijo ranks among the five best flamenco dancers in the world. During the 90-minute show, the band will also play tracks from their latest Arzapua album, to be released in November.

The concert in Warsaw is part of the group's Polish tour. They will also visit Gdynia (Nov. 10), Łódź (Nov. 12), Cracow (Nov. 13), Cieszyn (Nov. 14) and Olsztyn (Nov. 16). Tickets for the Warsaw concert cost zl.100 and can be purchased at the box-offices of Polski Theater (2 Karasia St.), ZASP and online at www.bileteria.pl. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

International Meetings

The Meetings Festival of Theatrical Festivals will be held under the honorary patronage of President Aleksander Kwaśniewski and will take place in several Warsaw theaters, Nov. 7-Dec. 1. The festival will host 13 theaters from Poland, Israel, Canada (the famous Ubu Theater), Hungary, Great Britain and Germany, which will stage their own interpretations of both classic works (The Master and Margarita by Cracow Stary Theater) and modern plays. Cleansed by Sarah Kane will be staged by three theaters—Warsaw's Rozmaitości Theater, the Polski Theater from Poznań and Współczesny Theater from Wrocław.

The Dramatyczny Theater will be the main venue for six of the 12 plays. The other shows will take place at the Studio Theater, the Polski Theater, the Rozmaitości Theater, the Theater Academy (The Blind by Maurice Maetterlinck by Ubu Theater from Montreal) and the National Theater, where the Polski Theater from Wrocław will stage Les Relations de Claire by Dea Loher.
