The Computer Motion company (CM) has launched the Socrates Telecollaborative System that enables a surgeon performing an operation to cooperate with a consultant.
Polish Heart Surgery Robot Project 27 June 2007 A multidisciplinary team working in several research centers in Poland is carrying out a research project that involves developing various strategies for heart surgery, making simulations of operations, developing an ergonomic workstation for the surgeon, designing a control system and a mechanical "manipulator" as well as building necessary models and a prototype. The project is called Robin Heart.
Meet Hexor, the Hi-Tech Household Helper 27 June 2007 The age-old human dream of versatile robots replacing people in dangerous places or doing tiresome work for them is beginning to come true in Poland. Researchers from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice have built the country's first mobile robot. For the time being, it is being sold mainly as a teaching aid, but soon it may also be used for guarding homes and companies, surveying land and helping rescue teams, for example, in coal mines.
