In its first year, the Podkarpacie Aviation Valley had 18 companies with total export sales of $270 million. In 2006, the number of companies in the Valley grew to 60 and their export sales totaled $700 million. By the end of this year, the figure may pass the $1 billion mark.

The government's Technology Initiative program, IniTech, has set aside zl.300 million to fund projects undertaken by even the smallest and most recently created private firms, provided they utilize new technology and can turn a profit. Several firms have already benefited from the program's first year of operation.

At the International Warsaw Invention Show (IWIS 2007), a group of pioneering Cracowresearchers won the gold medal in the environmental protection category for their Aqua Stopper package designed to restrain flood waters, and the silver medal for their domestic rainwater tank. And they even took the bronze for their PTP PK intelligent fertilizers and plant protection chemicals. The Cracow researchers have previously been awarded medals at exhibitions of innovative technology in Brussels, Geneva, Nuremberg and Moscow for their ideas on how to utilize used plastic bottles.

Polish archaeologists have discovered a richly furnished tomb dating back around 4,900 years and an ancient brewery in Tell el-Farkha in the northeastern part of the Nile Delta. Researchers of the Archaeology Museum in Poznań, the Archaeology Institute of the Jagiellonian University and the Mediterranean Archeology Center of the University of Warsaw have worked together on this site for nearly 10 years.
