During a conference held at the headquarters of the Polish Olympic Committee in Warsaw, Sports and Tourism Minister Mirosław Drzewiecki officially introduced Marcin Herra as the new president of the PL 2012 company, which will be in charge of coordinating all projects related to hosting the Euro 2012 European soccer championships in Poland.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has criticized Poland and Ukraine's preparations for hosting the finals of the Euro 2012 soccer tournament. After an initial assessment in January, UEFA President Michel Platini confirmed that the decision to award Poland and Ukraine the right to host the event had been correct. However, he suggested that the two countries should step up the pace of their preparations considerably.

German company MTU Aero Engines has announced that it will build a factory in Jasionka, near Rzeszów in southeastern Poland, this spring. The project will cost 70 million euros and provide jobs for 400. The company, which is an international leader in the development, manufacture and repair of aircraft engines, will start production in Jasionka next year.
