Great gear

14 May 2008

Elegant Notebook

Packard Bell has launched a notebook styled by Parisian designers for people who appreciate chic. The opalescent white EasyNote MB89-P-019 with a 15.4-inch display is decorated in orange and caters for those who appreciate mobility. It weighs 2.5 kg and comes with Intel Core 2 Duo processor, wireless communications, a webcam and a DVD recorder. Its advanced NVIDIA 8600 M GT graphic card with 512 MB memory is suitable for advanced graphic applications. The notebook also comes with the latest DVI, HDMI and eSATA ports.

Neat Navigation

Blaupunkt's new TravelPilot 300 navigation device quickly calculates the route and leads you to your destination. It comes with a Bluetooth module for mobile phones and numerous multimedia functions. It can be easily operated with a touchscreen. The color 4.3-inch display in 16:9 format shows only the information the user needs at a given moment. The route is presented in two- or three-dimensional mode. The device provides navigation information for 21 Central and Eastern European countries, including Poland. There is also a download option for maps of 20 Western European countries.

Camera With a New Angle

Sony's 350 camera uses a new APS-C CCD matrix with effective resolution of 14.2 million pixels that delivers true-to-life detailed images. It is also the first digital SLR with the Quick AF Live View function. This new system from Sony combines convenient image preview with fast serial picture-taking. The 2.7-inch LCD display with a tilt of up to 130 degrees up and up to 40 degrees down helps take pictures from atypical angles.

Racing Spirit

Longines's Grande Vitesse watches are inspired by motor sports and include automatic watches with interior mechanisms visible through the sapphire glass. The watch has a 42 mm stainless steel case. The dial comes in different colors, from silver to black. It includes a large number 12 numeral inspired by the style of numbers painted on racing cars. The watch comes with either a leather or rubber strap, or a steel bracelet.

Enter the Antara

After Opel's many-year absence from the 4x4 segment, the brand is making a comeback with its compact SUV Antara. The model was launched last year and has won praise for attractive design, a spacious and functional interior and standard accessories including ABS, ESP, DSC system for off-roading, six airbags and air-conditioning. Permanent four-wheel drive with electronic distribution of torque between the axles allows driving comfort in off-road conditions, while independent suspension ensures the travel comfort of mid-range cars. The model comes with a 3.2l 227 hp V6 gasoline engine or a Common Rail 2l 150 hp turbodiesel, and with a five-speed manual or automatic transmission.
